North Pacific Zone

The Northern Pacific Region is full of beauty, varied textures and beaches with colorful sand. This region of the Pacific coast is composed mainly of the province of Guanacaste, and offers many attractions, making this o­ne of the most visited destinations in Costa Rica. This region has its own International Airport, the “Daniel Oduber” Airport, located in the county of Liberia, providing direct access to this enchanted land. This region also offers a great variety of lodging, exciting adventures such as deep water diving, fishing, and gold. This is also a region for ancestral encounters, where there is always something new to discover.

Nearly all Northern Pacific beaches are good for surfing, and also for swimming or simply bathing in its warm waters. There are many different ecosystems, which are the habitats of a great variety of fish, sharks, manta rays, and shrimp, providing great diving sites. Among the best and most beautiful beaches there are: Tamarindo, Flamingo, Punta Islita, Samara, and Conchal beaches, and many others, particularly those from the Papagayo Gulf area.

For those who enjoy surface activities, mailing and sport fishing are good options. The most common species are: marlin, swordfish, tuna fish, wahoo and parrot fish.
